Sassi CUCINA E BAR - Spuntini

Italian Sardines on chargrilled ciabatta with extra virgin oil, garlic and parsley Spuntini = Tapas We normally save Sassi's for special occasions because of the wine prices.  When friends found they had house wine by the carafe for $13 we went to investigate. House white and house red half carafe for $13 TASTE SENSATION The house white is a very good Pinot Grigio and when combined with the sardines it is a knock out. Other Spuntini we had were: Pizza Bianca with olives, Baccala Mantecato, Polpette al Limone, Arancini and  Sambuca sausage flambe. 2 Macrossan Street Port Douglas Promoting Port Douglas .

Combined Clubs

We heard the rumours and saw the publicity. So we went. The Caesar Salad and prawns and Calamari tasted good. Presentation and service not good enough and not a smiling face anywhere. The Calamari strips were in one lump on top of some limp fries.  No finger bowls and no bowls to put the prawn shells in. The rumours were right. .

A cheaper dining option

On these beautiful days try a picnic in the park. Several of our parks have electric Bar B Q's (see the free stuff on the Keys to Port Douglas) and most have picnic tables or lovely grassed areas to use. Our lunch yesterday consisted of hamburgers, salad, chipolatas and Warburn Estate Gossips Cabernet Sauvignon. At about $4.50 per is perfect......  Promoting Port Douglas
